Agents of Influence: A Spy Digital Literacy Game

Agents of Influence (AoI) is a spy-themed media and digital literacy game for middle and high school students. It supports mental health by fostering community and healthy relationships with technology, including social media and AI. Students build research, analysis, and communication skills while exploring topics like AI and data privacy. AoI includes classroom implementation resources such as lesson plans, presentations, Kahoots, and a teacher dashboard with progress tracking.

  • Intended outcomes: Agents of Influence aims to improve media literacy, critical thinking, digital citizenship, and healthy online decision-making. Intended outcomes include stronger source evaluation, research and collaboration skills, greater confidence engaging in digital environments, and more meaningful classroom conversation and relationship-building around technology.
  • Demonstrated outcomes: Research data shows strong engagement and learning gains. In testing, 76% of students wanted to keep playing (in classroom or at home), 20% continued playing on their own time, 77% enjoyed the game, and discernment between true and false headlines rose from 36% to 65% after the first mission. An RCT with about 800 middle school students found positive effects on digital self-efficacy.
Privacy & Safety
  • Privacy & security: AoI is COPPA and FERPA compliant. The product does not collect unnecessary student data and is designed to support safe classroom use. We have no user facing AI features and student student activity visible to educators through dashboards.
  • Crisis protocols: AoI is a digital game and does not include crisis response or escalation features. Instead, it provides teacher dashboards so educators can monitor student-by-student progress and intervene as needed. These teacher-facing insights are adaptable to school or district workflows.
Data provided to school/district

AoI provides teacher and district dashboards with student-level progress, mission completion, and skill performance data across conversation, research, and analysis. Educators can review overall and question by question performance. The platform also surfaces recommendations and classroom-facing insights to support instructions.
